New This Week: Black Keys, Roots, Amy Winehouse, Cure

Did you see The Black Keys on SNL last week? They were fantastic. The band was on in support of  El Camino, their 7th studio release, which is thirty eight minutes of fuzz boxes, hand claps and tight songs.

The Roots have found time to record, Undun, in between their regular gig as the house band for Jimmy Fallon.  It’s a concept album that the band describes  as: an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999). The first single  is “Make My”.

Lioness Hidden Treasures , is the posthumously released album from Amy Winehouse.  It features previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions of existing songs as well as a few brand new compositions. From the Amy Winehouse website:

Don’t forget, a minimum of £1 from every sale in the UK/ Eire goes to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up in Amy’s memory to support charitable activities that can provide help, support or care for young people.

It’s the holiday season and that means goth, ok maybe not but there is a new live album out from The Cure, Beastival Live 2011. It’s a double album on 2 cds or available as one download.
