Fallout for Roots Following Bachmann Incident

You might have heard about last month’s incident with Rep. Michele Bachmann, (R-MN) and 2012 Presidential candidate, when she appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. As Rep. Bachmann came out for her interview, The Roots played “Lyin’ Ass Bitch”, by Fishbone, as her intro music.  Jimmy Fallon tweeted an apology to Bachmann and later called to say he was sorry. Politico notes, Roots drummer Questlove also issued a statement saying it “was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision.”

It turns out it wasn’t so spur of the moment. Rolling Stone reports: Before the Bachmann episode, he tweeted “aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title.” After some fans correctly identified the tune, he provided a link to buy Fishbone’s song on iTunes.

The Roots now have to get approval from NBC for their guest intro song choices.
