A Quick Coachella Wrapup: Day One…

Jets Overhead: Great textural melodies

Wale: Abbreviated/weak set

Sleigh Bells: BEST of the day.

Hockey: YES!

Calle 13: interesting, I suppose

Street Sweeper Social Club: Rage, redux

She & Him: yawn-festival inappropriate

Ra Ra Riot: great stuff

The Specials: younger attendees didn’t get it

Passion Pit: biggest crowd of their career

Them Crooked Vultures: Sum < parts

Echo & the Bunnymen: weak crowd, great band

Pretty Lights: lots of rhythm /sound

LCD Soundsystem: great band, but a bit masturbatory

Vampire Weekend: day slot would have been more appropriate

Jay-Z: New York!!!

VIP Experience: Underpriced, over-crowded, underwhelming, but interesting food variety. Sightings included Rosanna Arquette, Damon Wayans, an encounter with Hockey’s lead singer, and a guy named Taylor from LA who has one of the best lives ever from what PJ and I observed.
